Volunteers 'Monitoring' Church Services; Ashcroft Asked to Investigate
By Jeremy Reynalds
Talon News
July 27 2004

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The head of the Christian Seniors Association (CSA) has asked U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft to investigate reported harassment of churches in Kansas and Missouri. CSA Executive Director James Lafferty said that the Mainstream Coalition (web site) has more than 100 volunteer members who are "monitoring" sermons at targeted churches.

Lafferty, who said he initially learned about the situation through an Associated Press article, has delivered letters to U.S. Attorney General Ashcroft and to the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division asking that federal agents be dispatched to Kansas and Missouri to observe the coalition's activities against churches there.

"Churches in those states are being strong-armed and pushed around because of their beliefs," said Lafferty in a press release. "We want those religious citizens to get the protection they are promised in the Constitution. It is time somebody pushed back at the liberal bullies. This is harassment, pure and simple. Churches in Kansas and Missouri which oppose homosexual marriage go to the top of the coalition's target list for some 'monitoring.'"

Hi Amy,

It's always nice to hear from you.

This is just another example of how we always have the opportunity to be man pleasers or to be God Pleasers.

That is really our option in life, to Please and Fellowship with the Holy God or to try to submit to the whims of Sinful Humans who really are never fully pleased.

It is far best to follow God and let the sinners complain which they will do anyhow and to hope and pray that someday they too will see the light of the Holy, Loving , Caring God and enter into the Rich Fellowship that we are so privileged to enjoy!!

God Bless you,

Each and Every Day!!

Your Brother in Jesus,
David A. Brown

You're right, David. It is still creepy though. But we aren't to live in fear, are we. :)

Creepy and dangerous.

They are seeking to silence Christians from speaking.

But...on the presidential front things are looking better.

GWB is up in the polls.

The RNC convention is energetic and great!!!

And the Kerry campaign is in disarray and he's hiring Clinton campaign people in desperation.

Hi Rev Ike,

Yeah, I was watching the GOP Convention last night. Arnold did great.

I do think Christians are being left behind from the Republican Party.

We Christians need to stay involved in Politics.

God Bless you,
David

Lauer: You said to me a second ago, one of the things you'll lay out in your vision for the next four years is how to go about winning the war on terror. That phrase strikes me a little bit. Do you really think we can win this war on terror in the next four years?

President Bush: I have never said we can win it in four years.

Lauer: So Im just saying can we win it? Do you see that?

President Bush: I don't think you can win it. But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world - let's put it that way. I have a two pronged strategy. On the one hand is to find them before they hurt us, and that's necessary. Im telling you it's necessary. The country must never yield, must never show weakness [and] must continue to lead. To find al-Qaida affiliates who are hiding around the world and harm us and bring em to justice - we're doing a good job of it. I mean we are dismantling the al-Qaidaas we knew it. The long-term strategy is to spread freedom and liberty, and that's really kind of an interesting debate. You know there's some who say well, You know certain people can't self govern and accept, you know, a former democracy. I just strongly disagree with that. I believe that democracy can take hold in parts of the world that are now non-democratic and I think it's necessary in order to defeat the ideologies of hate. History has shown that it can work, that spreading liberty does work. After all, Japan is our close ally and my dad fought against the Japanese. Prime Minister Koizumi, is one of the closest collaborators I have in working to make the world a more peaceful place.

The Lord tells us to pray for our leaders. This is something all Christians should do. Pray for leadership nationally, statewide and locally. Pray that they come to know the Lord, pray that they lead according to the Bible.

That said, I do think we must all become informed and vote. At the very least, that is good stewardship.

Those who are called to go into politics...well of course they must do the will of God.

Yes, put them up. I think looking at them won't hurt anything.

I'd like to know the source.

A lot of things that you hear or see on the web is not true. For example, I read a few stories that John Edwards had a serious mental breakdown and had been under psychiatric care. It was not true...and the stories died. But they were floating around right after he was chosen. It's possible that this untrue story about Edwards might have been started by Dick Morris.

So...it depends on who started the story on Ashcroft and concentration camps.
